  • Summer movie fest schedule announced for Alabaster

    Poster printing is well underway for this summer's Movie in the Park program, with folks all over town looking forward to some fun times in the park with their popcorn.

    To get June off and running, Alabaster will be holding CityFest, now in its 11th year.

  • Fairs fair throughout this week

    The Oak Mountain State Fair in conjunction with North American Midway Entertainment the largest roving amusement park worldwide is currently providing a fun-filled fair in the Alabaster/Pelham area. Among the attractions are carnival rides, food, games, retail vendors, and live music.

  • Alabaster seniors tweak their rsums

    The Albert L. Scott Public Library in Alabaster is the venue for a workshop that assists older adults in updating and honing their job seeking skills. In partnering with Positive Maturity/AWARE (Ageing Workers are Reliable Employees), the library is able to offer this month-long workshop in its meeting room.

  • The Proof is in Alabaster

    Proof the 2001 Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning play will be performed at Alabasters South City Theatre later this week. Directed by David Auburn and produced by Clay Boyce, the play can be described as a compelling fusion of mystery, comedy, artful storytelling, and surprise.

    Under the direction of art teacher Claire Caldwell, 23 Thompson Middle School (TMS) students utilized their artistic talents in an effort to inform the community about the ongoing fight against polio.

    Christmas Wonderland on Main Street will be the theme for this years Christmas parade, which will be taking place today on U.S. 31 for the first time in two years.

  • Alabaster mom designs shopping cart

    A mom from Alabaster, Alabama, has designed a shopping cart which will make the lives of parents with a special needs child much easier when shopping. Drew Ann Long often struggled to push her daughters wheelchair alongside a shopping cart, which is no mean feat. Other times she would have to arrange for someone to baby sit her daughter so that she could get the groceries that they needed.

  • Alabaster resident creates garden for the community

    Robert Webb, a resident of Alabaster, Alabama, has started fulfilling a 20-year-long ambition over the past few weeks. Webb had noticed that, as the Alabaster population grew, people did not have room to have their own garden or, if they were lucky enough to have the space, it would be in a shaded area. Throughout the past 20 years, Webb has wanted to create a garden the whole community could enjoy. However, due to other demands on his time, this never happened until recently, when spare time made a community garden possible.
